Brief Summary of Work for this Position The Associate Director for Employer Relations:
- Leads the design and implementation of an employer development strategic plan to increase internship and employment opportunities for students and alumni.
- Identifies and recruits representatives for employer events.
- Provides leadership for developing, implementing and refining employer programs and events such as job fairs, etiquette dinners, information sessions, on-campus recruiting, classroom presentations, industry panels, site visits and networking events that will expose students to the wide range of post-graduate employment options.
- Strengthens the recruitment pipeline of employers through innovative techniques; market recruiting and employment services to employers, students and alumni, including the development of appropriate marketing materials.
- Leads the Employer Advisory Board which consists of representatives from external companies/organizations spanning a wide variety of industries.
- Develops and maintains effective contact with business, industry, and government employers in order to support and expand opportunities for internships and full time employment for UNCW students and alumni.
- Collaborates with academic units, faculty and staff to design programs and services which meet employers' and students' needs.
- Serves as a part of the Senior Leadership Team and supervises the Employer Relations staff.
- Collaborate and coordinate efforts with staff of Chancellor's office, Alumni Relations, University Advancement, QENO, Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, area SHRM chapters, regional Chambers of Commerce, and other campus, community and business network groups.
- Provides detailed reports on Employer Relations Team initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master's degree.

- Competency to assess, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding and application of best practices in collegiate career services, career trends, workplace changes, impacts of technology and social media.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with employer/contact management systems such as Handshake, Microsoft Office suite, and internet research.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills appropriate for small and large audiences.
- Skills in strategic planning and data analysis, supporting an ability to make complex, independent decisions and programmatic recommendations.
- Ability to travel and work non-standards hours, including some nights and weekends.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience - Master's degree with emphasis in business management, human resources, communications, higher education, career development or related field.
- Corporate recruiting experience and/or collegiate employer development experience.
