Full Job Description
JOB TITLE: Associate Director, Digital POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Associate Director II SALARY BAND: Associate Director II, Band B REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Digital LOCATION: Washington, DC or Remote JOB SUMMARY The Associate Director, Digital (ADD) leads much of the day-to-day work of the digital team. Specifically, the ADD works closely with the Senior Director of Digital Strategy and Online Communications Manager to manage and increase engagement with donors, volunteers, activists, online communities, and corporate partners across all digital channels. The ADD will lead on certain projects and assist with other efforts as needed. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Online Communications and Marketing (90%) • Manage the day-to-day needs of American Rivers' website, including the continued evolution of the content strategy, new content creation, and the general care and feeding required to keep our site timely and relevant. • Partner with the team on developing strategies to improve overall site SEO and to defend the loss of site traffic due to AI implications. • Lead the strategy and implementation of various online/hybrid projects as needed, from idea generation and campaign planning to final content creation and production. • Represent the Digital and/or Communications teams in meeting with internal or external partners. • Lead or assist with the design and implementation of high-profile national campaigns, including our America's Most Endangered Rivers® report release and other upcoming initiatives like State of America's Rivers. • Manage the creation and delivery of advocacy Action Alerts, blogs, press releases, and more • Lead or assist in developing email communications, including regional dispatches, newsletters, Community of Practice emails, and other general engagement emails. • Partner with regional staff to increase opportunities for storytelling, increase performance of their content, and ensure timely, strategic communications. • Hire and supervise semi-regular team interns if applicable. • Administrative (10%) • Measure, analyze and report on benchmark KPIs. • Provide regular reports to staff and stakeholders. • Create regular reporting and touchpoints for the team. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years' experience, preferably at least two years in online communications, online advocacy, web content production, or a specialized degree equivalent. • Experience working with popular CMS, CRM and advocacy tools, such as WordPress, Engaging Networks, Salesforce/Salsa, Convio. HTML and CSS experience a plus. • Strong knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and the emerging trends with content and engagement across these platforms. • Experience leading digital marketing campaigns and advocacy programs. • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and strong attention to detail. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and photo editing software (Photoshop or Canva). Basic design and video editing skills a big plus. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, with strong time and budget skills. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines. • High energy, flexible, self-motivated, and the ability to work professionally with staff at all levels of the organization, in person and remotely. • Familiarity with non-profit organizations and a commitment to conservation preferred. LOCATION Washington, DC or remote COMPENSATION American Rivers offers marketable compensation that reflects the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is $73,200-$89,400., annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
