Job DescriptionPayer Sciences is seeking an Associate Director, Data Engineering to help build and maintain the data infrastructure that supports advanced analytics and market access strategy for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of data pipelines, work with large and complex healthcare datasets, and collaborate closely with Analytics and Strategy partners to ensure data is accessible, accurate, and analysis-ready. You will also support best practices around data quality, documentation, and process improvement.
This is a hybrid role, based in Morristown, NJ, New York City, Chicago or Philadelphia.
Responsibilities- Support the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
- Assist in ingesting and integrating claims, coverage, SP/HUB, contracting, and other third-party data sets
- Implement and follow data quality controls, governance, and security protocols
- Contribute to documentation of data schemas, transformations, and workflows
- Partner with Data Analysts and Strategists to understand data requirements and deliver access to curated datasets
- Troubleshoot data issues, escalate risks, and collaborate to solve problems
Qualifications- 3-5 years of professional experience
- Hands-on experience with SQL and Python or R
- Foundational exposure to cloud platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Azure), ETL/ELT tools, APIs, and Git
- Experience with structured healthcare or pharma data preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics or other related discipline
Skills:- Understanding of relational data models and data transformation concepts
- Ability to analyze and reconcile data across multiple sources
- Familiarity with pharma sources (IQVIA Plantrak, Symphony Health PayerSource, MMIT, Clarivate, affiliations data, amongst others) and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to explain data limitations
- Detail oriented, organized, eager to contribute to a growing organization

Compensation Range: USD $73,150.00 - USD $112,554.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met.
