The Associate DIO/ Director of CME supports the Designated Institutional Official in overseeing Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs, ensuring compliance with ACGME standards, and fostering a high-quality clinical learning environment. The candidate will also provide oversight of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing medical education activities, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and ACCME standards.
Key Responsibilities:Associated DIO- Serve as the DIO's delegate for ACGME accreditation oversight.
- Provide leadership for GME programs to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient, and satisfying healthcare delivery.
- Collaborate with the DIO and administrative leadership to monitor institutional and program-level accreditation compliance.
- Participate in the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and lead subcommittees (e.g., Program Review, Curriculum).
- Oversee Annual Program Evaluations and Accreditation Data System updates.
- Advise program directors on academically underperforming trainees.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within GME.
- Support improvements in the clinical learning environment, including quality, safety, and wellbeing.
- Represent the DIO in their absence, including interactions with ACGME and chairing GMEC meetings.
- Lead faculty development activities and retreats.
Director of CME- Ensure CME activities comply with ACCME criteria and institutional policies.
- Maintain documentation and inform leadership of regulatory changes.
- Coordinate with committees and departments to develop CME policies.
- Oversee logistics for CME activities (e.g., facilities, AV, personnel).
- Ensure compliance for jointly provided CME activities.
- Identify practice gaps and educational needs of learners.
- Develop CME activities that are independent of commercial interests.
- Collaborate with faculty and committees to plan CME content, learning objectives, and formats.
- Resolve conflicts of interest and evaluate CME outcomes.
- Incorporate new teaching methodologies and technologies into CME programming.
Qualifications:- MD or DO degree; board certified with an active medical license.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience and leadership in medical education.
- Preferred: Experience as a residency or fellowship program director.
- Strong communication, strategic planning, and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with ACGME requirements, institutional policies and CME planning
- Experience in medical education administration preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
This position is in addition to providing clinical duties in candidates respective specialties as an Attending Physician (Faculty)
