Position Summary (Purpose of job):

The Field Support Specialist - Level 2 delivers on-site technical support and troubleshooting for end-users across McKesson locations, ensuring continuity of operations and compliance with enterprise standards. This position focuses on applying learned skills to independently resolve routine issues, configure and deploy standard hardware/software, and maintain IT-controlled environments. Operating within a regulated healthcare setting, the Specialist ensures service levels are met through proactive monitoring, documentation, and escalation of complex issues.

This role contributes to operational efficiency by implementing temporary solutions, conducting site assessments, and supporting endpoint security protocols. It involves collaborating with remote support teams, vendors, and senior specialists to address technical challenges and optimize user experience. The Specialist also provides training to end-users on basic device and application usage, reinforcing self-sufficiency and adherence to company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for end-users independently, ensuring timely resolution of routine issues.

Configure and deploy standard images, approved software, and hardware components across multiple client environments.

Implement temporary solutions for issues pending permanent fixes to maintain business continuity.

Document support activities, update ticketing systems, and assist in developing accurate service reports.

Conduct basic site assessments and provide technical input for installations and upgrades.

Monitor and prioritize work tickets to ensure service levels and response times are consistently met.

Maintain IT-controlled areas and assist in inventory management, following asset-handling protocols.

Train end-users on basic device configuration and application usage to promote self-sufficiency.

Collaborate with remote support teams and escalate complex issues to senior staff or vendors as needed.

Support endpoint security practices during deployments and troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with company standards.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Working knowledge of PC/mobile operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS/Android) and basic networking (Wi-Fi, VPN).

Ability to perform hardware diagnostics, printer/device troubleshooting, and on-site issue resolution independently.

Proficiency in configuring and deploying standard images, software, and hardware components.

Familiarity with ticketing systems, service documentation, and escalation workflows.

Knowledge of asset handling and inventory management within IT-controlled environments.

Understanding of endpoint security practices, including antivirus updates and patching.

Ability to conduct basic site assessments and provide technical input for installations.

Strong customer service and communication skills to train end-users and explain technical solutions clearly.

Collaboration skills to work with remote teams and vendors; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Adaptability and problem-solving mindset to operate across diverse environments and resolve issues effectively.

Business Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Technology or related field.

Typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience in field support, desktop support, or similar technical roles.

Exposure to enterprise environments involving hardware/software deployment, endpoint troubleshooting, and ticketing systems.
