Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Research and Academic Operations. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean serves as a senior member of the College's leadership team and provides strategic oversight of research advancement, academic operations, faculty development, and accreditation activities. The Associate Dean plays a critical role in strengthening the College's research profile, supporting faculty excellence, advancing continuous improvement processes, and ensuring alignment with AACSB accreditation standards and University priorities.

The faculty member will be responsible for continuously publishing in high-quality peer reviewed journals while developing and delivering high-quality course content in a business discipline at the undergraduate and MBA levels both on campus and online. In addition to carrying out impactful teaching and research, faculty members are expected to actively engage in service to the Department, College, University, community, and profession. Faculty is expected to engage with external partners and support grant and external funding opportunities.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics is one of eleven academic units at the University. Located in Greensboro, NC, North Carolina A&T State University is a public, doctoral/research, 1890 land-grant university committed to exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.

The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics has five academic departments-Accounting and Finance; Business Information Systems and Analytics; Economics; Management; and Marketing and Supply Chain Management, and currently enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The College offers both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Accountancy (MACC) degrees. The business and accounting programs are both accredited by AACSB International-the business programs since 1979 and the accounting program since 1986. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation occurred in 2021. A faculty of over 75 (70 tenured or tenure-track) teach in the academic departments, providing quality teaching and learning supported by relevant research and service.

Minimum Requirements

The position requires a terminal degree in field appropriate for the college and professional accomplishments appropriate for an appointment at the level of Associate Professor or higher in one of the academic departments in the College of Business and Economics.

Applicants should also possess leadership, communication, teamwork, and other skills consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

Candidate must also have a strong record in teaching, research and service.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Terminal degree from an AACSB-accredited institution is preferred.
Experience with accreditation standards and assessment.
Proven ability to foster undergraduate research initiatives and promote research integration with teaching and service.
Experience in working with an office of sponsored programs and the Division of Research on programmatic activities.
Experience in engaging with non-academic entities on research-related opportunities.

Required License or Certification

Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
