Job Summary

The Associate Dean plans, organizes, and directs COBA operations related to the undergraduate, graduate, and BBA online programs as well as student-related issues. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and is a member of the COBA Leadership Team (Dean, Coordinator of COBA Administrative Services, and Program Coordinators). This position assists the Dean in college operations, which includes the coordination of all COBA undergraduate curriculum activities, academic advisement and works closely with the Program Coordinators to encourage the development of new instructional strategies. The Associate Dean works with the Dean to ensure compliance with and maintenance of AACSB accreditation. The Associate Dean conducts faculty annual performance reviews and submits them to the Dean.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the process to implement or revise curricula and coordinate appropriate course schedules with the Program Coordinators.
  • Serve as a resource and referral source for student related issues.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of college policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist the Dean in developing and supporting initiatives that impact programmatic growth and branding. Work with the Dean and Program Coordinators to oversee the academic program and ensures quality student support services.
  • Identify equipment and resources needed to support the classroom and lab operations.
  • Assist the Dean in supporting the university mission and actively participate in college and university activities and initiatives as needed.
  • Serve as the signatory for student related documents.
  • Serve as the signatory for faculty related documents when the Dean is not available.
  • Assist with the supervision of the administrative staff of the College to include selection, evaluation, promotion and discipline.
  • Work with the Dean to ensure compliance with and maintenance of AACSB accreditation.
  • Support the Dean in the general supervision over the work and conduct of faculty, staff and students.
  • Collaborate with the Dean to develop and support the enhancement of the faculty.
  • Teach 1 - 2 courses per academic year.
  • Assist the departments in the coordination of academic advisement with CSSR, course offerings, academic assessment, and program accreditation.
  • Serve as a liaison to the other administrative units of the University to promote college endeavors at the request of the Dean.
  • Assist the Dean in the preparation of any reports needed to describe or support the work of the College.
  • Assist with budget management.
  • Represent the College at events and activities when the Dean is unavailable.
  • Coordinate and implement college-wide training for faculty (to include part-time faculty) and staff.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in one of the disciplines represented in COBA from an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) institution or an internationally recognized institution of similar quality
  • Must possess current faculty rank of associate professor or higher
  • Successful leadership experience as a Department Chair (5 year minimum) or as associate dean
  • Record of academic achievement consistent with the level of appointment including research activity and at least five years of teaching experience in higher education.
  • Must be AACSB SA qualified.
  • Demonstrated experience in development, implementation and execution of academic programs
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision and training of personnel.

The proposed salary range for this position is commensurate with qualifications and skills.

  • Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment best practices.
  • Skilled in mediating conflicts as well as fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Skilled in budget management to include allocating resources effectively across multiple departments and programs to support college goals.
  • Skilled in effective communication (interpersonal, oral, written) with the ability to communicate information clearly and persuasively to all audiences (student, faculty, staff, and university leadership).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with all students, faculty, and staff in support of student success.
  • Ability to support the Dean in building and maintaining academic programming and supporting the needs of all students.
  • Ability to remain professional and maintain confidentiality.
