Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission (California preferred).
• 2-5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house, focusing on commercial contracts and regulatory matters.
• Background in cannabis, alcohol & beverage, agriculture, or other regulated industries is highly advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage multiple legal matters with strong attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to simplify complex legal concepts for non-lawyers.
• Proactive mindset with a collaborative approach to legal challenges.
• Adaptability to work with ambiguity in a fast-changing regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor contracts and licensing agreements.
• Advise on regulatory compliance for cannabis operations in California, Nevada, and New York.
• Support corporate governance through entity management and board resolutions.
• Collaborate with various teams to provide timely legal guidance to foster agility and compliance.
• Monitor cannabis law changes and create guidance materials for internal teams.
• Assist with employment-related legal issues and manage risk in coordination with HR and Finance.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on legal matters when necessary.
• Enhance legal processes and tools to support the company's growth.
