Job Description Summary:
The Associate will be a member of Focus' core strategy team which oversees all corporate development / M&A activities across Focus, with immediate responsibilities in M&A execution. The Associate will play a critical role in participating in every step of the deal process from proposal to close, working closely with senior team members to drive deals to completion. This includes conducting financial analysis, structuring and modeling deal terms and investment committee papers, due diligence, and coordinating with various stakeholders across the firm. The ideal candidate is a team player, self-starter, and intellectually curious. Associates will be trained in a fast-paced environment and given immediate responsibilities. Successful Associates will have the opportunity for advancement over time.

This role is based in New York, NY; Austin, TX; San Francisco, CA.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities
  • Participate in every step of the M&A deal process from proposal to close
  • Review Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) for investment banker-led processes to assess fit and coordinate NDAs / management meetings with investment bankers
  • Financial due diligence and P&L scoping for prospective deals (for both internal and external firms)
  • Structuring and modeling deal terms
  • Preparing and presenting Investment Committee (IC) memorandums to the IC committee
  • Preparing and presenting term sheets
  • Acting as central point for coordination across Focus' Corporate and business line teams
  • Assisting senior team members throughout the deal process, gaining cross-functional exposure to legal, finance, and other teams

  • Ability to present and discuss analysis/findings to various stakeholders


This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $90,000-$120,000 base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k). Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate's experience and education.
