Description & Requirements

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Associate Computer Network Operations (CNO) Vulnerability Researcher to join our team in Fort Meade, MD.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in researching and discovering software vulnerabilities.
  • Support reverse engineering software for security mechanism bypasses.
  • Assist in designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging of user land and kernel software and systems.
  • Research and maintain proficiency in tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trends in computer network vulnerabilities, static and dynamic program analysis, network security, and encryption.
  • Take direction from more senior personnel and provide status updates that allow those personnel to present to leadership and customers.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 0+ years of experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of experience OR Associate's degree and 2+ years of experience OR Master's Degree and 0+ years, OR a PhD with 0+ years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Working knowledge of vulnerability research.
  • Some hands-on experience in reverse engineering and common research tools (e.g., IdaPro, Ghidra, Radare, Binary Ninja, SysInternals, GDB, WinDBG, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++ or Assembly (x86/x64) programming.
  • Proficiency in low-level internals in one or more technology areas (e.g., Windows, Linux, Mobile).
  • Troubleshooting / debugging experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in IT-related discipline.
  • 2 years of position-specific relevant experience.
  • CNO Capability development experience.

Clearance Requirements:
  • No clearance required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $69,900.00-$116,400.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
