Position Summary

The Associate CIO for Enterprise Solutions is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the groups providing enterprise academic and administrative applications; selected academic technologies; application development; web hosting and web accessibility programs, enterprise application integration services; and enterprise data management. The Associate CIO's portfolio includes enterprise applications such as enterprise resource planning, learning management systems; application, software, and web development; application integration; and data management, including database administration, enterprise data warehouse, business intelligence, and analytics.

In collaboration with internal and external campus stakeholders, the Associate CIO develops and implements vision and plans for the operating needs of the Enterprise Solutions group, including annual and long-term plans for budget, personnel, and technology acquisition, retirement, and life cycle. Additionally, the Associate CIO serves as the primary liaison to the appropriate regulatory agencies, vendors, and professional organizations.

The Associate CIO reports to the Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO) and serves on the Information Services Executive Council. The position leads a team of approximately 40 professionals, including those represented by a bargaining unit. The Associate CIO has budget authority and accountability for the Enterprise Solutions.

The Associate CIO joins IS at a pivotal moment. The University is currently undertaking an assessment to evaluate options for modernizing its ERP and Student Information System (SIS) environment. Options may include replacing the existing Banner on-premises solution, migration to an Ellucian cloud solution, or a best-of-breed platform approach. The Associate CIO will play a central role in this multi-year effort, leading stakeholder engagement, change management, and leveraging University technology governance structures and campus partnerships to set priorities, develop and lead implementation roadmaps.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and education.
• Ten or more years of progressive IT leadership experience with demonstrated depth in business process improvement and redesign, enterprise applications, integration services, and data management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience developing and managing high-performing technology teams, including direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring of IT professionals.
• Demonstrated experience leading information technology services in a large, decentralized, or otherwise complex organizational environment.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and sustaining organizational change in environments where trust-building, stakeholder engagement, and long-term commitment are essential to success.
• Experience managing and negotiating vendor contracts and agreements with end-users, service providers and regulatory agencies.

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree, MBA or equivalent graduate-level business or technology management education preferred.
• Experience working in IT in a research university or similarly complex, mission-driven institution with shared governance models.
• Formal change management training or certification and demonstrated application in enterprise technology implementations.
• Experience with ITIL or ITSM frameworks to improve service delivery, operational consistency, and change management practices.
• Experience leading and managing enterprise applications, integration architecture, and data management functions.
• Proven experience developing and executing a multi-year technology vision, roadmap and Supporting budget in Alignment with institutional priorities.
• Experience improving the overall digital experiences for students, faculty and staff through changes in the systems and services portfolio.
• Understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or robotic process automation (RPA) as applied to enterprise systems.
• Demonstrated ability to advance data quality, reporting, and analytics strategies by leading through influence across organizational boundaries.
