Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on legal and business matters regarding incentive projects.
  • Identify and analyze business incentives for a variety of industries.
  • Collaborate with experts to assess projects and qualifying activities.
  • Represent clients in federal and state examinations and mediations.
  • Review and analyze documentation for government submissions.
  • Conduct legal research and draft supporting legal documents.
  • Prepare clients for government meetings and interviews.
  • Act as primary liaison between clients and government agencies.
  • Build strong client relationships while working with cross-functional teams.

Full Job Description
You will support a wide range of small to large companies by helping them identify valuable incentives and representing them against any challenge by state or federal agencies. This role is a unique opportunity to gain experience within the intersection of business and law while enhancing your skills in a client-centric environment, often requiring you to engage with C-level executives and other senior-level professionals. You will learn a tremendous amount concerning some of the most innovative industries and business operations across the country.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate evidence, assess case merits, and develop strategies to position clients for successful outcomes.
  • Advise clients on legal and business matters impacting incentive studies and related projects.
  • Identify, analyze, and quantify business incentives for clients across a variety of industries.
  • Collaborate with industry experts to assess technical projects and determine qualifying activities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to represent clients in federal and state examinations, mediations, and appellate reviews.
  • Gather, review, and analyze documentation and prepare responses for submission to government agencies.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, analyses, and other supporting legal documents.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for interviews, examinations, and meetings with government agencies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and government agencies, ensuring exceptional client service and communication.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes.


Qualifications
  • JD required and an active license to practice law in any state
  • Preferred 2 years of experience as an attorney with the ability to maintain own docket
  • Preferred prior client facing and/or professional services industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly professional, competitive, and collaborative
  • Strong aptitude, highly motivated, and career minded
  • High sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities
  • Receptiveness to performance feedback within a team environment is essential
  • Available to travel 15-25% within the United States
  • Candidate must reside or relocate to Houston, TX
