Full Job Description
Zurich is currently looking for a Pricing Actuary or Senior Actuarial Analyst II to join National Accounts and work out of our Chicago Office. This colleague will support and work alongside the market facing underwriting teams in our Domestic Casualty unit, as well as supporting other Business Unit initiatives.

Through this collaborative, cross functional business partnership, the National Accounts Pricing team improves the financial understanding and performance of accounts within the regions and enhances the quality of technical underwriting, decision making and risk selection. They are instrumental in profitably growing the premium volume on both a regional and company level. This individual will be responsible for supporting the field underwriting needs of the Midwest Region.

As Associate Actuary, you will be a primary point of contact and resource for the Midwest Region, its underwriters, and underwriting managers. In this individual contributor role, you will work independently on account pricing as well as lead more complex analytical work. Examples of this include:
  • Assisting with the development of account-based model pricing structures and leveraging profitability analysis
  • Partnering with regional business leaders and underwriters on both transactional and strategic account decisions; most notably by providing actuarial calculations, including:
    • Risk transfer analysis
    • Large complex loss forecasts and unique rating plan structure
    • Large account collateral needs
  • Supporting and training underwriters in pricing and loss forecasting concepts, model outputs and tools, and providing a feedback channel to ensure the issues faced by the tool users are being addressed by the tool designers
  • Participating in internal audits and occasional meetings with brokers, outside actuarial consultants, and/or customers
  • Understanding profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicating insights as needed
  • Providing leadership with recommendations on key parts of the large account book of business to help drive strategic profit and growth
  • Developing strategic partnerships with the business segment leadership, portfolio managers, and underwriters
  • Helping underwriters craft a story and support the deal proposal with sound rationale for rate increases, term changes, coverage adjustments, etc. beyond "the model says so"
  • Managing the demands of the various stakeholders, ensuring predictable and timely completion of work.

This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure to our various casualty lines of business, business segments and customers/prospects. You will also gain valuable underwriting insights and business knowledge working within an underwriting framework. As part of the expectations in this role, you will remain current with regulatory/market conditions to apply this knowledge in pricing solutions and recommendations.

This role will be filled at either the Associate Actuary or Senior Actuarial Analyst II Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
