Job Summary:

Summary

The Assistant Vice President Academic Affairs/Dean is a full - time administrative appointment that reports to the Vice President of Patient Care Services/CNO. The Assistant Vice President Academic Affairs/Dean is responsible for the oversight and delivery of all academic education programs including the strategic planning, implementation, assessment, continued development, and general effectiveness of the Nursing and other programs to meet accrediting standards, New Hampshire state requirements, New Hampshire Board of Nursing and federal Department of Education requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • Provides compassionate and caring leadership with strategic planning to promote the nursing profession and workforce development.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external constituents.
  • Articulate and advance the goals and objectives of the St. Joseph School of Nursing (SJSON) and St. Joseph Hospital (SJH).
  • Establishes partnerships and/or relationships with local, state, regional and national organizations to advance nursing and health care education
  • Ensures SJSON policies, student handbook/catalog, and faculty bylaws and handbook are current and reflect evidence-based practice and national nursing standards, and are consistent with SJH and Covenant culture
  • Conducts systematic curriculum review and evidence-based program evaluation to ensure programs demonstrate rigor and currency and attainment of student learner and program outcomes.
  • Uses a shared governance model to empower faculty to make decisions related to curriculum, school policies, workload distribution, and academic integrity.
  • Maintains national accreditation and program approvals at state and national levels
  • Plans for and evaluates FTE needs; establishes job categories, faculty and staffing numbers, and evaluates productivity and staffing patterns in accordance with faculty workload guidelines
  • Develops and administers the school's budget
  • Oversees the Clinical Education Department for Nursing
  • Manages School of Nursing ASN, BSN, CMA, LNA, Paramedic, and Phlebotomy programs
  • Other duties as consistent with this role


Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills
  • Three to five years management experience and experience as an instructor of nursing


Education and Experience
  • Current NH Registered Nurse license required
  • Master's degree in nursing required
  • Doctorate in nursing or education preferred


An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.

Comp Range:
$124,879.59 - $173,664.74
Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. At the time of an offer, determination of your offer will reflect your skills and experience as it relates to the position.
