Position Overview:

The Assistant Vice President, E&S Casualty, with wholesale broker relationships and knowledge of E&S Casualty risks, will have frequent interaction with wholesale brokers in providing coverage for new and renewal businesses based on the customers' needs. This role will work with internal and external business partners to find insurance solutions for risks. The incumbent will work in a team environment, demonstrate a strong customer focus that will over time, reinforce E&S Casualty's appetite and strategy. The Assistant Vice President will possess strong decision-making skills, be detailed oriented, and be able to build & sustain relationships, results driven and have a track record of working in a fast-paced environment and manage direct reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Grow and maintain a profitable book of business through execution of individual risk underwriting and adherence to the strategic plan of the unit.
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Work independently within delegated underwriting authority and make referrals as required.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with peers, leaders and internal partners across functional areas to identify cross-selling opportunities, assist in product development and operational excellence.
  • Foster and maintain external relationships with wholesale brokers in an effort to market and sell Ascot's products.
  • Provide superior service to brokers and clients and create visibility through consistent engagement with trading partners.
  • Work independently within delegated underwriting authority and make referrals as required.
  • Stay current on competition, underwriting environment, market conditions and share that knowledge with colleagues and leadership.
  • Manages Associate Underwriters and Interns
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minium of 8 years of underwriting experience in the P&C insurance industry experience, with General Liability and Excess Liability preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer management, new business development, and the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners
  • Must be committed to developing leadership skills as defined by Ascot
  • Solid background in risk analysis and experience with complex accounts
  • Must possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process
  • Must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers
  • Knowledge and proficiency with technical issues, compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies expected
  • Must have the ability to be creative and adaptable in a changing business environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • ASLI, CPCU, ARM or other relevant professional designation preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to travel 10-15%.

Compensation

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonus, long-term incentives, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
