Summary or Purpose
Provides technical and administrative support to Risk Manager; monitors property, liability and workers' compensation claims and acts as RISK Manager in the absence of RISK Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Oversees the maintenance of all confidential files, claims records and reports; creates initial folders for new claims; collects and files required documentation; researches discrepancies.

Researches, interprets, responds to and resolves inquiries from employees with claim questions regarding policies and procedures.

Oversees and reviews the process of claim forms and other related documents.

Oversees employee claims database; reviews and processes supporting documentation; enters claim data into electronic and manual filing systems; reviews entries for accuracy and correctness, and reporting requirements.

Assure effective communications between claimants and claims administrators, medical providers, payroll and others as necessary.

Oversees the NSB Ergonomic Program. Monitors progress of employees returned to work after workplace injury.

Works with insurance carrier to process general liability third party claims; processes documents, and maintains database and filing system.

Maintain confidentiality of records on sensitive claim information.

Will be required to travel to the villages within the North Slope Borough.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.

Knowledge of the principles of personnel files and records management.

Knowledge of claims processing rules, regulations and computer systems.

Skill in understanding, interpreting and applying relevant rules and regulations.

Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of files and reports.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

Two years of supervisory work experience.

Two years of clerical work experience;

One year of insurance claims administration work experience;

One year of RISK management work experience

Valid Alaska driver's license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.

This position is NON-Rotational. Housing is NOT provided.
