Full Job Description
This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State's College of Engineering is seeking candidates for an Assistant Research Professor within the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics. The Assistant Research Professor will conduct research on two-dimensional materials and next-generation semiconductor devices, with emphasis on scalable 2D FETs and CMOS, interface/contact and high-k gate-stack engineering, and monolithic 3D integration.

Responsibilities include materials and process development; cleanroom micro/nanofabrication; dielectric and metal-contact integration; electrical characterization and data analysis; design and evaluation of devices and circuits; documentation and publication of research results; participation in collaborative research and proposal development; and mentoring/training of students in laboratory procedures.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Engineering Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should have demonstrated research experience in 2D semiconductor devices and nanoscale fabrication. Preferred experience includes MOCVD/CVD growth or 2D material transfer, photolithography/e-beam lithography, thin-film deposition, ALD, etching, semiconductor device characterization, MATLAB/Python-based data analysis, peer-reviewed scientific publication, and collaborative research.

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
