Position Overview

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work with various Project Management team members from different projects to manage the overall performance for commercial construction projects and have direct client relations responsibility. You will also provide oversight of the estimation and complete project management of multiple project teams.

Location

This position is located on an active construction site in the Aiken, SC area. Reporting to the project daily is mandatory, this is not a remote or hybrid position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and champion all aspects of Kiewit's safety culture with an unwavering commitment to Nobody Gets Hurt.
  • Assist and support Executive Leadership in the development and execution of organizational strategy and key business initiatives.
  • Provide senior leadership and oversight for multiple construction teams throughout preconstruction and construction phases.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for new business opportunities while fostering and expanding client relationships.
  • Serve as the primary client relationship manager, building and sustaining long-term partnerships to generate new and repeat business.
  • Collaborate closely during preconstruction, estimating, and proposal development for both new and existing opportunities.
  • Lead contract negotiations and provide solutions-driven contract development support.
  • Actively engage in the community and industry as an influential leader through professional organizations and memberships.
  • Maintain senior management accountability for overall project performance, including financial results, schedules, and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects are appropriately staffed and support employee development, recruiting, and retention strategies.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel for work as needed.
  • Minimum 7-10+ years of experience in the commercial or Federal Government construction market. DOE market experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience that provides the required knowledge for the position.
  • Proven experience serving in a job management role, with demonstrated responsibility across construction operations, engineering, estimating, contract management, and client relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial construction standards, including scheduling, contracting, and coordination and management of multiple disciplines and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in project controls and administrative software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management, including team development and performance oversight.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including leading and reviewing project financial forecasting.
  • Experience in business process management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of business administration principles.
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the organization to clients, stakeholders, and industry groups.
