Job DescriptionSUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking an
Assistant Project Manager - Cost Controls who will be responsible for partnering with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance. Lead, coach, and mentor project team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform cost control and financial management
o Work with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule
o Coordinate scopes of work
o Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation
- Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive
o Draft client proposals
o Contract administration and management
o Award subcontracts
- Provide direction to the project team for safe and timely project completion
o Act as liaison for project engineers, mentor and coach others
o Provide job assignments and manage career development
o Direct responsibilities and guide Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s)
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers for the project
o Supervise budget for and make recommendations for subcontractors and trade partners
o Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners
o Facilitate and lead meetings between subcontractors related to project coordination
- Other duties as assigned, including:
o Perform on-site Project Manager duties on small scope projects
o Implement a quality plan that ensures the customer's specified performance criteria in design and construction
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of related previous experience
- Current driver's license
- Shown ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
- Shown positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $102,000 - $137,700 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
