Full Job Description
We are seeking an Assistant Program Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the pursuit, execution, and growth of APL's Chemical and Biological Defeat program. This program advances foundational CBRNE science, integrates, and evaluates emerging technologies through experimentation, develops prototype capabilities, and transitions innovative solutions to meet the operational needs of warfighters and analysts who are partnered across the interagency, including the Department of War (DoW) and the Intelligence Community (IC). The successful candidate will help sustain, build, and evolve a high-impact portfolio that strengthens our nation's ability to counter CBRNE threats.

We are a hardworking team of scientists and engineers focused on applying the latest advancements in science, technology, and artificial intelligence to develop innovative capabilities for the CBRNE and CWMD science & technology and mission execution communities. As a member of our team, you will build an environment that cultivates deep collaboration between the sponsor community, end users, and APL staff in order to best support the overall mission.

As an Assistant Program Manager...
  • Your primary responsibility will be to serve as a partner for the Program Manager to manage the cost, schedule, and quality of APL efforts within the program portfolio.
  • You will work with line management to form high-functioning cross-functional teams of technical, programmatic, and administrative experts to execute incoming tasks.
  • You will represent APL as a trusted mission partner for the government's CBRNE and CWMD communities and cultivate high-integrity teams of APL's world-class experts to amplify and scale this trusted role.
  • You will serve as a leader contributing to the strategy and future vision of APL's C-CBRNE Threats program area.
  • You will form valued partnerships with other institutions, laboratories, and industry to understand the full range of capabilities available to sponsors.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Possess a Master's degree or higher
  • Have 10+ years of experience working in technical, project, and program leadership positions within the chemical biological defense community.
  • Are highly skilled in developing collaboration between technical scientists, engineers end users, and sponsors.
  • Have experience communicating with all levels of staff and sponsors.
  • Hold a Top Secret clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Have a depth of knowledge of the CWMD mission space and the operational groups that perform these missions
  • Have consistently proven an ability to interact with Senior Government officials within the CBRNE Defense and CWMD enterprise.
  • Have demonstrated success performing project and program management functions.
  • Possess a PhD

$105,000 Annually

Maximum Rate

$290,000 Annually
