Job Summary

The Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. We are seeking outstanding candidates in the following two research areas:

1. Power Electronics

2. Semiconductor Devices and Emerging Computing Hardware

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students and/or other researchers
  • Contribute service at the department, college, university, and/or professional society levels


Required Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • A proven record and/or strong potential for excellence in teaching and mentorship
  • A proven record and/or strong potential for establishing and sustaining an externally funded research program and producing high-impact scholarship
  • A proven record and/or strong potential for service


Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate in the field of Power Electronics will have expertise that aligns with and complements the existing research strengths in the Power and Energy area in the Department of Electrical Engineering. We encourage applicants with expertise in power electronics circuits and systems, including, but not limited to, AI/data center power delivery, DC power systems, or grid-connected power electronics, to apply.

The successful candidate in the field of Semiconductor Devices and Emerging Computing Hardware will have expertise that aligns with and complements the existing research strengths in the related area in the Department of Electrical Engineering. We encourage applicants with expertise in semiconductor device research, fabrication, and characterization, including, but not limited to, advanced CMOS or beyond-CMOS technologies for energy-efficient computing, neuromorphic computing, or AI hardware, to apply.

The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) is part of the College of Engineering (CoE) at UTA, one of the largest engineering colleges in Texas (https://www.uta.edu/engineering). Active research areas include optics and photonics; power electronics; renewable energy and energy storage, electric propulsion; power systems, cyber-physical systems, intelligent and autonomous systems; machine learning; environmental sensing; and wireless communications. The EE department has strong support from the College of Engineering and UTA administration to continue its top tier status in research and teaching excellence.
