General Information:

James Madison University's School of Accounting (SOA) invites applications for an experienced tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2027. Advanced assistant professors are also encouraged to apply. We invite qualified applicants to teach and conduct research in any area of accounting with a preference for teaching financial/governmental or accounting information systems (AIS)/data analytics/technology.

The SOA offers the BBA and MSA degrees and first received separate AACSB accounting accreditation in 1985. The SOA's faculty members work together in a highly collegial environment and have published in high-quality journals. The SOA has strong ties to the profession and is viewed as a prime recruiting school by employers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position requires teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses, conducting research leading to quality peer-reviewed publications, and providing service to students, the department, the profession, and the university in accordance with the College of Business Guidelines for Faculty Qualifications. The teaching load for this position is nine credit hours per semester (3/3).

Qualifications:

Required:
-A terminal degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution. (ABDs will not be considered.)
-A minimum of two years teaching experience in accounting.
-Evidence of, or the potential for, publishing a continuing stream of quality scholarly research.
-Evidence of excellence in teaching.

Preferred:
-Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or related accounting certificates).
-Professional accounting experience.
-Experience teaching financial/governmental or AIS/data analytics/technology.
