Full Job Description
Major/Essential Functions

  • Provides direct patient care services in the outpatient setting
  • Provides patient care and supervision of residents on the family medicine inpatient service and
  • participates in the faculty call schedule
  • Supervises residents in the outpatient clinic setting and participates in the overall teaching
  • program for teaching and training of residents
  • Supervises and teaches clerkship students in the outpatient clinic setting
  • Teaches medical students throughout the medical school curriculum as assigned
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
  • Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso


Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
  • Additional training or experience in obstetrics for the candidates interested in practicing obstetrics
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Family Medicine
  • Licensed or eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas
  • Terminal academic degree (or its equivalent) as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Ability to teach effectively.
