Assistant Production Manager
Location: Onsite, Fresno, CA
Reports To: Production Manager
Employment Status: Full Time
Travel: None
Work Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday; additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call support, as needed to support production operations.
Pay: $80,000 to $88,000/year

Position Overview: The Assistant Production Manager is a key leader within our manufacturing operation, responsible for developing production teams, operational performance, and ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of high-quality products. This role partners closely with colleagues to solve challenges, improve processes, and support production success. Key Responsibilities
Production Operations and Execution
• Lead daily production operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
• Execute production schedules, manage workflow priorities, and support production readiness through effective planning and coordination.
• Develop and support supervisors while driving problem-solving, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Materials, and Customer Service to ensure reliable operations and exceptional customer outcomes.
Operational Performance and Continuous Improvement
• Drive production performance by monitoring key metrics, resolving operational issues, and implementing corrective actions.
• Leads daily Short Interval Management (SIM) meetings, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, and team collaboration to achieve production goals.
• Support quality and continuous improvement through Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) management, Lean initiatives, and participation in quality and customer feedback reviews.
People Leadership and Workforce Management
• Lead and develop shift supervisors by providing coaching, accountability, and support to drive team performance.
• Build a high-performing workforce through hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
• Promote a culture of safety, communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all production shifts.
• Provide operational leadership and continuity by supporting plant operations, serving as a backup to department leaders, and responding to operational issues as needed.
Inventory Management and Order Fulfillment Support
• Support inventory accuracy and material planning through cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, and inventory management activities.
• Monitor material utilization and waste reduction by helping maintain broke levels within established guidelines.
• Coordinate with Customer Service and Materials to support production completion schedules and shipping timelines.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Experience leading production operations through front-line supervisors in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems, production scheduling, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
Work Environment
Office environment with exposure to Lab and Production areas as needed. This position typically functions in a business environment. There will be exposure to moderate levels of noise, fumes, dust, chemicals, and allergens along with temperature variations when in Production areas.
