Description

An Assistant Piping Designer will assist in various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of proposal and construction documentation and piping plans as part of a project team. This position will work on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.
  • Assist in performing a variety of routine assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches. Follow all company, client, and project design and drafting standards.
  • Assist in producing complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written descriptions from the design engineer.
  • Assist in creating Plan & Section Drawings, Isometric Drawings, Plot Plans, and General Arrangements.
  • Apply basic formulas, principles, and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the piping discipline.
  • Work collaboratively, utilizing design systems for the production of piping design deliverables.
  • Assist with a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Assist with initial rough designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
  • Assist with Piping and Equipment modeling tasks within the 3D model.
  • Assist with analyzing reports, drawings, and tests, to plan and design projects.
  • Apply design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
  • Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
  • Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into piping design and layouts.
  • Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field, and 2 years of related experience required.
  • Or Associate's degree and 3 years of related experience required.
  • Or 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience required.
  • Strong understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Excel, and Word to develop the design deliverables.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating the related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Team Members - Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-disciplinary project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Compensation

$36.00-44.00 Hourly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of an hourly pay rate and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
