The University of British Columbia, Faculty of Applied Science, School of EngineeringAssistant or Associate Professor of Teaching in Electrical and Computer Engineering The School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus invites applications to fill one (1) full-time faculty position in the educational leadership stream within its Electrical and Computer Engineering Programs. Applicants will be considered for the ranks of Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track) or Associate Professor of Teaching (tenure-track or tenured), commensurate with their experience, accomplishments, educational leadership, and/or teaching expertise including (but not limited to) areas of digital hardware, microelectronics, VSLI and gate arrays, autonomous systems and robotics, computer architecture and embedded systems, and related fields. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027 or a date to be mutually agreed upon.

Eligibility and duties Applicants must hold a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a field related to Electrical or Computer Engineering and either be registered, or be eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (https://www.egbc.ca) within five years of appointment. Ultimately, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to educational leadership, teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the School, University, and greater community.
Appointment eligibility at each rank is defined as follows:
- Assistant Professor of Teaching: Appointment to this rank normally requires completion of academic (and/or professional) qualifications, evidence of ability and commitment to teaching, and promise of educational leadership. Applicants having successfully defended their doctoral (Ph.D.) dissertation by the start of the appointment may be considered. The annual salary range is $120,000 - $140,000.
- Associate Professor of Teaching: Appointment at (or promotion to) this rank requires evidence of excellence in teaching, demonstrated educational leadership, involvement in curriculum development and innovation, and other teaching and learning initiatives. It is expected that Associate Professors of Teaching will keep abreast of current developments in their disciplines, and in the field of teaching and learning. The annual salary range is $140,000 - $190,000.
Location The University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus is situated in Kelowna, British Columbia, on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan people, who continue their stewardship to this day. Kelowna is surrounded by vineyards, lakes, forests, and mountains, making it a four-season playground for a variety of activities.
