Overview

The Assistant Managing editor works closely with the Managing Editor in the administration of the Annals of Mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with seven faculty members of the Editorial Board and attendance at bi-monthly Board meetings.
  • Daily processing of journal submissions, editor assignments, editor instructions, refereeing correspondence and tracking, and manuscript decisions. The applications used include both an online submission system (EditFlow) and an internal FileMaker database application.
  • Processing of annual subscription fulfillment, which includes reconciliation of payments and remittance advices, invoicing (on request only), subscription database entry and updates for payments, advices, and subscriptions including changes in agents, formats and addresses. Disaggregate agent orders to singular subscriber records. Aggregate new/renewed subscriber data for transfer to journal host.
  • Processing of print orders: preparation of mailing lists and packing slips, including a direct institution shipments and agency batched shipments (January, March, May, July, September, November) and processing of claims for missing or damaged issues (February, April, June, August, October, December). This process is managed using an internal FileMaker database application.
  • Communications with subscription agents who represent subscribing institutions, Princeton University Finance and Treasury, Princeton University Counsel, our electronic hosting and print vendors, and libraries around the world.
  • Preparation of reports on subscription metrics to identify trends, and implement strategies that minimize cancellations.
  • Processing invoices from vendors via Princeton's PRIME financial system.
  • Updates to the Annals' website to include changes to subscription-related content.
