Responsibilities

  • Oversee middle office operations supporting trading desks across equity, fixed income, and derivatives products.
  • Partner with both internal and external stakeholders for Periodic NAV and P&L Review.
  • Ensure trade capture accuracy, lifecycle event monitoring, and timely settlement of trades.
  • Implement and enhance control frameworks to mitigate operational risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to reduce operational risk and improve scalability.
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators, trade exceptions, and operational performance metrics to senior management.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for middle office processes during audits, regulatory reviews, and system upgrades.

Middle Office Manager

Business Analyst for our Middle Office team supporting a major hedge fund client. A hybrid role partnering with clients, ops, and technology, delivering projects and enhancements while keeping day-to-day operations stable. Ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and can juggle competing priorities in parallel.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Solutioning
• Own requirements and delivery for Calypso (Portfolio Management System) enhancements and client initiatives, end-to-end (requirements  build  SIT/UAT  production).
• Translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions across front-to-back flows (trading, middle office, accounting).
• Coordinate testing and sign-off; ensure solutions are production-ready.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
• Primary contact for external clients and internal stakeholders.
• Lead working sessions to define requirements and align on solutions.
• Communicate changes clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Production Support & Issue Resolution
• Provide daily production support, including periodic client EOD coverage.
• Investigate trade, valuation, PnL, and data issues across Calypso and upstream/downstream systems.
• Drive root cause analysis and permanent fixes.

Prioritisation & Ownership
• Balance project work, enhancements, and production issues across competing client, internal, and BAU demands.
• Provide clear visibility on status, risks, and dependencies.

Process & Documentation
• Identify and improve workflow gaps across trade lifecycle, valuations, settlements, and PnL.
• Maintain clear documentation (specs, test suites, onboarding materials).

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; CFA charter (or progress toward) is beneficial.
  • 4+ years of experience in middle office, operations, or trade support within a financial institution.
  • Hands-on Calypso experience strongly preferred; similar systems (Murex, Summit, Sophis, Aladdin) also considered.
  • Strong understanding of middle office workflows and trade lifecycle (bookings, lifecycle events, settlements, reconciliations, risk, PnL).
  • Solid knowledge of Fixed Income and Credit Derivatives (Corporate Bonds, CDS, CDX).
  • Proven hybrid BA / delivery / production support experience; comfortable in client-facing environments under time pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Salary ranges from CAD $80,000.00 - CAD $90,000.00 plus additional discretionary yearly bonus based on corporate and individuals performance. Compensation within this range is dependent on individuals skills, experience and qualifications.
