Assistant Accounting Manager
Location: Torrance, CA (In-Office)
Pay: $95K-$115K / year

Position Summary:
Inaba Foods (USA) Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage month-end close workflows, supervise accounting staff, and support our enterprise ERP transition in the U.S.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Torance, CA, as required by company leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day AP/AR operations, cash applications, customer credit memos, billing audits, and daily bank Positive Pay exception reviews.
  • Lead month-end close tasks across the AP/AR team, preparing and posting journal entries for expense accruals, prepaid amortizations, inventory estimates, and reclassifications.
  • Oversee team expense management and review/approve employee expense reports and timecards in automated systems (e.g., ADP).
  • Calculate, verify, and reconcile complex monthly sales broker commissions and trade rebates across multiple networks.
  • Prepare audit-ready balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger account analyses, and monthly financial statements compliant with US GAAP.
  • Audit and reconcile monthly storage, freight, and 3PL warehouse billing statements against supporting documentation.
  • Submit monthly financial packages to external CPA partners, process estimated tax payments/notices and facilitate the annual audit.
  • Support the company's ERP transition from QuickBooks Desktop to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (COA mapping, data migration, and report testing).
  • Provide supervision, training, and ongoing technical guidance to AP/AR staff; lead weekly team check-ins and regular 1-on-1s.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Logistics, Sales, Marketing) to resolve billing discrepancies and operational accounting needs.
  • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and business ethic codes; represent the Company in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proven experience supervising, reviewing, or guiding accounting staff (AP/AR).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP principles, internal controls, accrual accounting, and audit-ready reconciliations.
  • Experience in broker commission calculation, trade rebate tracking, or complex sales allowance reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting an ERP implementation or transition (specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, NetSuite, SAP, or similar Cloud ERP) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Desktop (Enterprise) and automated expense/payroll software (e.g., ADP).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH); experience using Excel Macros, VBA, or Python for data processing is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Strong accounting focus with leadership capabilities
