Contact Email: [email protected] DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position supports the overall maintenance operations that keep county highways and bridges functioning safely and efficiently. It plays an important role in planning, supervising, and coordinating a wide range of maintenance efforts. As an Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for maintenance operations
- Crew Supervision: Direct general and specialized crews performing highway and bridge work
- Work Planning: Prepare drafts of long range, annual, monthly, and weekly work plans
- Agility Agreements: Manage and evaluate agreements to ensure fair exchange of services
- Incident Management: Oversee emergency and incident response activities in the assigned area
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor environmental clearances and permits

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime as needed, rotating on-call
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $69,086.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:- One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:- All positions require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
