Description The City of Marysville is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Assistant Finance Director to serve as a key financial expert and managerial leader within our Finance Department. Functioning as the overall office manager for day-to-day operations, this position serves as the department's second-in-command, providing essential support to the Finance Director's executive leadership and strategic governance. In the absence of the Finance Director, this individual will step in as a fully empowered member of the City's Executive Group, ensuring seamless continuity of leadership.
Job Responsibilities Operations Management: Manage daily operations for accounting, payroll, purchasing, assessments, and financial reporting.
Personnel Leadership: Supervise and mentor finance administrative staff, the Utility Accounts Administrator and Income Tax Administrator.
Customer & Operational Support: Resolve billing discrepancies, processing delays, and municipal service inquiries or emergencies.
Regulatory Compliance: Enforce internal policies to meet City, state, and federal requirements.
Strategic Planning: Use SWOT analysis to align daily tasks with the City's Strategic Plan.
Job Requirements Education: A bachelor's degree in public administration, finance, or a related field is required (A master's degree is a plus).
Experience: Requires 5+ years of management experience (1+ at senior level) and 3 years in Fund Accounting or commiserate experience in Municipal Income Tax or Utility revenue and expense administration. Must understand municipal billing, revenue, and financial record-keeping; MUNIS experience is preferred.
