ROLE of the POSITIONThe Assistant Director, Space and Facilities leads the daily operations of the space and facilities management team supporting the shared-services model for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine (KKSOM) at UNLV and UNLV Health. The position supervises all subordinate staff serving 14 locations comprising 315,000 square feet that support academic, administrative, clinical, and research programs, and works with other school and University departments and contracted vendors to ensure responsibilities are met timely. The Assistant Director ensures the department operates within approved budgetary constraints by monitoring and approving expenditures, maintains compliance with UNLV and KKSOM policies and all regulatory and accrediting-organization standards, and initiates programs and projects that support the growth and strategic initiatives of KKSOM. The position exercises independent judgment over facility operations, emergency preparedness, access and security, space, and inventory management across the shared-services portfolio.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThis position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of facilities or operations experience, including two (2) to four (4) years of supervisory or management experience over multidisciplinary staff and contractors. Evidence of experience supervising an administrative department responsible for implementing state and federal regulations. Exceptional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
ACCEPTED EQUIVALENCIES FOR DEGREE REQUIREMENT UNLV may consider additional relevant experience in place of formal education requirements:
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, applicants may qualify with four additional years of relevant experience, or with an associate's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Ten or more years of demonstrated effectiveness as a leader and manager with significant responsibility managing multiple academic facilities, with intradepartmental and interdepartmental focus
- Knowledge of and experience with the EPA, NVOSHA, NV State Fire Marshal, and NV State Public Works
- Experience managing academic facilities operations
- Skilled in the use of project management tools to develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines
