Job Overview:

The Assistant Director of Patient Care is a registered professional nurse who, under the direction of the Director of Patient Care, coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to his/her unit, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of age-appropriate care for the unit s patient population,

Essential Functions:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education for patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this Assistant Director Patient Care/RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification along with ACLS certification upon hire. Vent experience preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred with a minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience or 2 years of acute care nursing experience with previous management experience. Post Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience preferred. Strong critical thinking/assessment skills. This position is a full-time, day shift.
