Assistant Director - Outpatient Pediatric & Adult Nutrition ServicesLocation: Duke University Hospital2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705Work Schedule: Full-Time, 1st Shift, Monday - FridayDuke University Health System seeks to hire a dedicated Assistant Director of our Pediatric and Adult Outpatient Nutrition Services who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Duke University Hospital delivers patient centered care and is known for expertise in Inpatient, Urgent Outpatient, OR, Interventional, ED/Trauma, PEDS, Cardiac, Oncology, and Transplant services. Our nutrition team at Duke Health work across inpatient and outpatient settings, providing specialized medical nutrition therapy for oncology, diabetes, weight management, and surgical preparation for both Adult and Pedicatric patient populations.
What you will do:- Manages, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of assigned department personnel based on job requirements and core competencies assigned to the job.
- Directs the provision of medical nutrition therapy and the nutrition care process by supervising the activities of clinical dietitians and diet technician staff.
- Interacts with hospital administration, medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, and foodservice staff to promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation and to ensure patient's nutritional needs are met.
- Schedules clinical nutrition staff according to patient needs and budget allocation.
- Develops, initiates, and monitors quality initiatives and patient safety practices in accordance with the Joint Commission and other accrediting organizations.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and facilitates training of new employees to meet department staffing needs.
- Provides/facilitates continuing education and training opportunities for staff.
- Mentors department staff in presenting and/or publishing articles, abstracts, or results of research studies in professional journals or at professional meetings.
- Assists in the supervision and oversight of the Pediatric and Infant Nutrition Room.
- Performs clinical responsibilities according to all department policies.
Required Qualifications:EducationExperience- Minimum of four years of experience in clinical nutrition.
- Five years of experience in clinical nutrition strongly preferred.
- Leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in Outpatient Nutrition Services and with Pediatric patient populations as a Clinical Dietitian strongly preferred.
- Experience with billing and coding strongly preferred.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications- Licensed dietitian/nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition; provision for license-eligible dietitians as below.
- Registered dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
