Description

We have a new full-time opening on our Transportation team for an Assistant Director.

The Assistant Director of Transportation reports to the Director of Transportation and is responsible for assisting the Director of Transportation with department administration; program policy and procedure development and management; oversite of safely transporting the individuals served by The Arc Mid-Hudson, field customer service, and supervising Transportation staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible for supervising, hiring, training, and mentoring Transportation staff.
  • Assure compliance of all vehicles with Federal, State and other applicable regulations and codes.
  • Ensure all drivers maintain position requirements.
  • Administer and maintain annual check-ups and vehicle driver testing. Maintain documents in a secure file for audits.
  • Ensure the safety of all individual's served by The Arc Mid-Hudson who utilize Transportation services.
  • Interpret and explain Agency policies and procedures.
  • Keep immediate supervisor apprised of all operational changes and concerns within the Transportation Department.
  • Responsible for adhering to all Safety and Health standards and policies.
  • Act as back up to the Director of Transportation in their absence.

May need to travel, as needed, between Counties (Greene, Putnam & Ulster) on behalf of the Director of Transportation

This experienced manager should be an effective communicator and highly organized, specifically related to transportation record keeping and files pertaining to driver testing.

SCHEDULE: 40/Monday through Friday/must be flexible

STARTING SALARY: $ 75,000 to $ 87,375 per year, based on relevant experience and education

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in human services or other relevant major to the field and job, required.
  • Three (3) years of supervisor and administrative experience specifically involving applicable State codes and regulations.
  • Strong leadership, planning and project management experience required.
  • Presentation skills, creative problem solving and networking skills required.
  • Must be customer focused with oral and written communication competencies.
  • Familiarity with databases, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, Global Positioning System Technology or other applicable technologies a plus.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State transportation regulations and policies strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to perform position responsibilities in a safe manner, including the ability to lift 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations, demonstrate proper lifting techniques, and safety measures to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Understanding of Vehicular Code of NYS preferred.
  • Prior experience working with older adults and/or people with disabilities desired.
