Description Assistant Director of Purchasing (CS27-035)What You Will Do- Under the direction of the Director of Purchases, this position is responsible for administration of the buying and contracting function of Purchasing which includes supervision and performance management of staff.
- This position is responsible for meeting the purchasing requirements of all SIUE departments and adhering to the requirement of the Illinois Procurement Code and Board of Trustees policies.
- The incumbent will also serve as contracts manager for the department.
- They will provide guidance for major purchase categories and complex bids as well as review and sign purchase orders over the legal bid limit.
- In addition, the position is responsible for developing and conducting trainings and seminars on purchasing procedures and regulations.
FLSA: Exempt
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
- Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
(NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)

- Possession of a current Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) from The Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC), or a current Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) certificate, Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)
