The Assistant Director of Operations is a key member of the hotel's operations leadership team, with primary responsibility for supporting Rooms Operations and eager to grow, learn and expand on their Food and Beverage acumen. This position reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Rooms Operations leadership team to support Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Laundry operations and as well our breakfast restaurant, Eques. Although this position will not directly manage each of these departments, the Assistant Director of Operations will provide active operational support, leadership presence, coaching, problem-solving, and accountability in partnership with the leaders of those areas. The role also partners closely with Security, Valet Parking, Door, Engineering, Food and Beverage, Events, and other hotel departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
The Assistant Director of Operations will serve as a visible, hands-on leader who supports daily hotel operations, guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, financial performance, and Hyatt brand standards. This role will participate in the Manager on Duty program and help ensure that the hotel consistently delivers the exacting standards expected of one of the best-regarded hotels in the Seattle market.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, detail-oriented, and highly collaborative leader with strong hotel Rooms Operations experience. This individual will demonstrate exceptional customer service, sound operational judgment, out-of-the-box thinking, and a genuine commitment to colleague satisfaction. Duties:- Provide leadership, direction, and operational support for Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, Eques, and assigned hotel operations.
- Partner closely with the leaders of each area to support consistent execution, service delivery, colleague development, and operational performance.
- Support the Director of Operations and Operations leadership team with short- and long-term operational planning.
- Participate in the Manager on Duty program, including weekend, evening, holiday, and high-occupancy coverage as needed.
- Serve as a visible leadership presence throughout the hotel and respond to operational priorities, guest needs, colleague concerns, and service recovery opportunities.
- Ensure that guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, Front Office functions, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Eques maintain Hyatt standards and exacting levels of quality.
- Maintain a strong eye for detail and ensure that operational standards are consistently executed across all guest and colleague touchpoints.
- Partner with Security, Valet Parking, and Door teams to support a safe, seamless, and welcoming arrival, departure, and overall hotel experience.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food and Beverage, Events, Security, and other departments to resolve issues and deliver a seamless guest journey.
- Support guest satisfaction goals, travel-review performance, internal guest satisfaction scores, and property service standards.
- Respond to guest concerns and service recovery opportunities with professionalism, urgency, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Coach, counsel, train, recognize, and develop managers, supervisors, and hourly colleagues in alignment with Hyatt service standards and enterprise leadership expectations.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and colleague-focused environment that strengthens engagement, trust, accountability, and overall team satisfaction.
- Support appropriate staffing levels, colleague deployment, payroll accuracy, labor management, and operational productivity within approved guidelines.
- Participate in budget planning, financial reviews, forecasting, expense control, inventory management, and departmental performance reviews for assigned areas.
- Assist leaders with the development and implementation of standards, procedures, training tools, and operational improvements.
- Use guest feedback, colleague feedback, operational data, and performance trends to identify opportunities and implement action plans.
- Apply Agile Ways of Working by setting clear priorities, creating regular opportunities for colleague input and feedback, addressing barriers quickly, testing and refining operational solutions, and adapting plans in response to guest needs, business conditions, and colleague feedback.
- Encourage out-of-the-box thinking and practical innovation while maintaining Hyatt standards, operational discipline, and sound financial judgment.
- Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen responsible hotel operations.
- Participate in leadership meetings, training programs, property initiatives, capital planning, special projects, and process-improvement efforts.
- Maintain strong communication and coordination across all departments and leadership levels.
- Ensure compliance with Hyatt policies, procedures, brand standards, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by hotel leadership.

Qualifications:- Four years or more of progressive hotel operations experience, with significant experience in Rooms Operations; Hyatt experience preferred.
- Previous leadership experience in Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, Rooms Division, or a high-volume hotel operations environment.
- Experience working closely with Front Office and Housekeeping leadership in a large, complex, full-service hotel.
- Food and Beverage experience preferred, particularly experience supporting restaurant operations, breakfast service, or F&B leadership.
- Prior department head or senior Rooms Operations leadership experience required.
- Strong understanding of Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, guest service, service recovery, labor management, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and hotel operations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain exacting standards and identify details that affect guest perception, cleanliness, service quality, and operational performance.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, and hourly colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to build colleague engagement, strengthen team satisfaction, and create a positive culture.
- Strong customer-service orientation with a genuine desire to satisfy the needs of guests and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively, challenge traditional approaches, and implement practical operational solutions.
