Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the guidance of the DNS, direct the day-to-day functions of the nurses and LNA’s in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the skilled nursing facility.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
  • Attend Medicare, Care Plan and Discharge meetings to ensure that the ADNS is keeping informed and following the continuum of care for each Resident.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the Medicare reimbursement system by attending in-service education and independent learning opportunities in order to perform this role in absence of DNS.
  • Be knowledgeable of the quality indicators, Resident census and condition report and incorporate into the daily functioning of the nursing unit and care planning for each individual.
  • Meet daily with DNS to facilitate communication and allow the DNS to review systems and offer information.
  • Actively participate in QAPI and QA programs.
  • Review staffing daily to ensure adequate staffing on each shift. Once monthly schedule is completed, assist DNS to cover absent calls.
  • Responsible for assisting with staff education and competencies to ensure facility compliance.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations.
  • Provide leadership to all nursing personnel.
  • Communicate needs of the day to each charge nurse to ensure expectations are being met.
  • Make daily rounds to ensure that nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Troubleshoot problem areas as required.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the nursing unit.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in the State of New Hampshire.
  • 5 plus years’ experience working in a Skilled Rehabilitation/ Long-term Care Environment.
  • 3-5 years hands on management experience.
  • Familiarity with Medicare reimbursement practices.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be computer literate; expert level of the Microsoft suite and Point Click Care preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, Residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
