Job Summary/Basic Function

This position leads daily facility maintenance operations, supervising trades and custodial staff while managing both scheduled and reactive work. Oversees CMMS work orders to ensure timely completion and coordinates preventive, routine, and emergency repairs. Supports budgeting, vendor oversight, and project documentation while monitoring contractor performance. Ensures regulatory compliance, manages campus safety programs and training, and assists leadership in maintaining and improving facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties
  • Manage daily operations of facility maintenance, both scheduled and reactive.
  • Supervise and coordinate work across skilled trades and custodial services.
  • Respond to/manage/resolve employee, vendor and administrative concerns.
  • Utilize the CMMS to create, monitor, prioritize and ensure timely completion of work orders in accordance with University standards.
  • Assist in the development and execution of departmental budgets, including monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving initiatives.
  • Participates in the preparation and submission of project reports, change orders, construction change directives, meeting minutes and other records necessary to administer projects and document the work performed.
  • Supervises, inspects and monitors work being performed by outside vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinates scheduling and supervision of routine, preventative and emergency repairs to facilities and equipment.
  • Assists the Director of Facilities Management in the planning, organization, and direction of staff in the upkeep of all University grounds and buildings.
  • Responds to emergency calls on a 24 hr basis and disseminate the proper staff to mitigate the emergency.
  • Provide support to emergency response personnel with technical, hazardous chemical and emergency protocol information.
  • Oversee and enforce Environmental, Health and Safety compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, DEP, EPA, etc)
  • Develop and maintain a system for the handling, collection, storage and disposal of hazardous, bio-hazard and universal waste across campus.
  • Direct the work of other safety personnel throughout campus as required.
  • Perform and/or schedule staff safety training and maintain documentation of training and safety incidents campus wide.
  • Respond to regulatory agencies for compliance documentation.
  • Make recommendations to improve existing equipment and processes.
  • Provides backup to the Director of Facilities Management as authorized.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as requested by the Director of Facilities Management
