Summary: The Assistant Director of Engineering oversees the hotel's interior, exterior, and building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical. This role leads the Engineering team, manages daily operations, and directs routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable hotel operations.
The Assistant Director of Engineering also manages preventive maintenance records. This position assists with compliance with OSHA, fire, environmental, and local safety regulations; supports capital projects and equipment replacement planning; and responds to emergencies as needed.
Qualifications:- 2-3 years of engineering management experience, preferably in a luxury hotel
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or bachelor's degree preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems
- Experience with hotel building systems, soldering, and brazing preferred
- Universal Refrigeration Certification and CPO certification preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to train and mentor team members
- Proficiency with mechanical equipment, maintenance tools, and work-order systems
- Fluent English communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to work on-call, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with hotel departments
- Ability to lift, climb, stand, walk, and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions
