ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF Adult Education

SALARY RANGE: $156,159 - $170,535.00
General Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Director of Adult Education
• Assess and evaluate overall program effectiveness, instructional materials and staff in Adult Education.
• Ensure program accountability and positive student outcomes through
o Informal walkthroughs, staff coaching and support of high-quality instruction
o Enforcement of clear expectations aligned with program goals.
• Practice data driven reflection and action, utilizing the Adult Education state data management system, to ensure student outcomes and overall program success.
• Assist in planning and developing new activities in Adult Education, including organizing and developing all mandated programs.
• Communicate and collaborate with Adult Education stakeholders including local business leaders, post-secondary institutions, training programs and state facilitators to promote workforce readiness opportunities for students.
• Utilize recruitment strategies including the use of digital media, promotional advertising, and collaboration with stakeholders including students, staff, local businesses, and high schools.
• Monitor Adult Education satellite locations
• Maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening hours, to support adult education programming, staff supervision, and community engagement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the director of Adult Education on behalf of the Superintendent
Specific Responsibilities:
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the Connecticut Competency System (CCS) through the completion of CCS training and the CCS Program Facilitator Professional Development Certification session.
• Hold primary responsibility for CCS coordination, quality data collection and use.
• Train new staff in the CCS System and provide ongoing technical assistance as needed.
• Explain and interpret Literacy, Adult and Community Education System (LACES)
as needed.
• Evaluate student test results and assist in placements.
• Encourage use of LACES' individual student and class profiles to provide feedback to students/teachers and connect curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
• Review/coordinate/complete quality data collection requests.
• Review CSDE data reports with program director for accuracy and program implications.
• Attend CSDE meetings to represent program; provide input; and obtain information and updates.
• Provide training opportunities and ongoing coaching, demonstrating a throughline between assessment, curriculum, instruction and accountability measures, to ensure teaching is connected to learning and instructional practices are aligned with state standards.
Requirements:
• State of Connecticut Certification - Intermediate Administrator (092)
• Minimum five years successful administrative experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
