Duties & ResponsibilitiesPURPOSEOFPOSITION:The Perinatal/Pediatrics Program Coordinator functions under the leadership of the Departments of OB-GYN, Pediatrics, and Nursing. In collaboration with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams, the Coordinator is responsible for:
- Quality improvement (QI) program management
- Data abstraction, analysis, and submission
- Performance measure monitoring
- Strategic planning support
- Education and outreach coordination
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance- Maintain continuous readiness for TJC, DOH, and CMS surveys
- Ensure 100% timely submission of required regulatory reports
- Monitor compliance with performance measures and accreditation standards
- Review and update policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Conduct concurrent chart reviews and documentation audits
2. Quality Improvement & Data Management- Abstract, analyze, and trend clinical performance data
- Develop monthly dashboards and quarterly performance reports
- Present findings to Accreditation Steering Committees
- Identify gaps in care and implement corrective action plans
- Maintain comprehensive tracking logs of departmental initiatives
3. Interdisciplinary Coordination- Collaborate with OB, Pediatric, and Nursing leadership
- Support clinical teams in identifying improvement opportunities
- Facilitate care transitions pre- and post-discharge
- Participate in hospital committees and strategic task forces
- Act as a clinical and regulatory resource to staff
4. Strategic Planning & Program Development- Support strategic plan implementation for Perinatal and Pediatric programs
- Develop clinical pathways and operational workflows
- Lead performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure alignment with organizational patient safety goals
5. Education, Research & Outreach- Provide education and feedback to interdisciplinary teams
- Support nursing research and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Coordinate and document required community outreach activities
- Promote patient and family education initiatives
Measurable DeliverablesThe Coordinator will be accountable for:
- 100% on-time regulatory reporting
- Monthly QI dashboard distribution
- Quarterly departmental performance presentations
- Annual program evaluation and performance summary
- Ongoing compliance audits and documentation monitoring
Minimum Qualifications1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3), below.
2. Master's Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty or equivalent field and five years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and six years of satisfactory nursing experience, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity.
3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
