Job Profile Summary:
Serves as a subject matter expert within the college to perform HR activities and advises on policies, procedures, statues, and laws to ensure all human resources transactions are processed in accordance to policy and law.

Job Description:

Under general direction, the Assistant Director, Academic HR will oversee The Colleges processes and training for designated Workday HCM transactions, mostly related to academic personnel. The position will provide Dean level reviews and guidance and serve as a liaison between the Budget and Financial Team and the Academic Personnel Team within The College Deans Office.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Manage college process and review of all Flexible Work Arrangements within The College.

  • Manage college process and review of all International Assignments within The College.

  • Manage college process and review of all Contingent Workers, Affiliated Faculty, and Adjunct faculty appointments.

  • Assist with monitoring and reviewing faculty business leaves within Workday, including sabbaticals, fellowships, and leaves without pay.

  • Coordinate the annual Notice of Appointment process for The College.

  • Assist the units with the hiring process for session faculty/APs and reviewing associated period activity pays.

  • Assist the units with summer pay process and reviewing associated period activity pays.

  • Coordinate with Divisional Directors of Fiscal and Business Operations to obtain Dean approvals as needed.

  • May serve as backup on HR transactions for units when vacancies occur.

  • Provide training and guidance to units on all managed HR processes.

  • Assist with employee audits such as work locations and active FWAs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education, preferably in an academic unit or deans office.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona State University policies and procedures related to faculty hiring and academic personnel processes.

  • Experience with university/enterprise-level systems for hiring and payroll (ex: Workday HCM, APARS).

  • Experience in preparing and presenting reports and training materials to a wide range of constituents.

  • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Working experience with Microsoft Office and Google products, including Excel, Office, and Outlook.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.

  • Regular activities require ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

  • Attend meetings out of the office and have significant interpersonal interactions.

  • Must communicate effectively in both oral and in written format to perform essential job functions.

  • Daily use of computer, software, and office machines.

  • Must practice independent judgement and interpretation of policies.

  • Hybrid work allowing for up to 2 days remote may be offered after initial training period. This is at the discretion of the supervisor and may be modified or revoked to meet business needs.
