Job Summary

Responsible for managing the lease accounting functions for PACCAR Leasing Company. This position interacts closely with a variety of departments and personnel throughout the corporate headquarters including Canada and Controllers' organization.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop three accountants, including hiring, training, cross-training, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide technical accounting research and guidance to management and the Global Controllers' Group on significant, complex, and non-routine lease transactions.
  • Manage daily and month-end U.S. and Canadian lease accounting activities, including transactions, new volume, payoffs, dispositions, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, analytical reports, and quarterly tax and external reporting packages.
  • Review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations, and perform account analyses.
  • Prepare and review lease accounting forecasts and month- and quarter-end forecast-to-actual variance commentary.
  • Review executive commentary for the monthly financial report.
  • Coordinate tax compliance, authority requests, audits, and inquiries with Corporate Tax and internal teams.
  • Develop and implement system initiatives, including robotic process automation, to reduce cycle time and improve departmental efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with PLC Operations, Corporate and PFC Treasury, PACCAR Tax, and other accounting teams.
  • Coordinate quarterly reporting to Corporate Accounting and external auditors in support of SEC filings and other information requests.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, participate in U.S. and Canadian control testing and operational reviews, and support internal and external audits.
  • Lead and support special projects, system implementations, and process improvements using AI, Six Sigma, and data analytics tools.


Qualifications & Skills

  • 8 + years of relevant accounting experience with increasing responsibility
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; including effective written and verbal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate complex lease accounting issues at an executive level
  • Strong technical and analytical accounting skills with intermediate to advanced computer skills in Excel (i.e. pivot tables, macros, charts and graphs) and data analytic tools (i.e. Tableau, PowerBI etc.)
  • Problem solver with ability to work independently and self-motivated, handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Positive attitude and "can-do" approach to issue resolution


DESIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong working knowledge of lease accounting GAAP rules and regulations
  • Masters degree strongly preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Public Accounting or audit experience


Education

  • BS/BA Accounting degree
  • CPA certification

Additional Job Board Information

We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for the Assistant Controller - position is $104,100 -$162,900 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
