Assistant Controller

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Kaba Ilco is seeking a skilled Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the financial management and accounting operations of the manufacturing facility by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, accounting records, internal controls, and compliance requirements. This role oversees key accounting processes including month-end close, account reconciliations, inventory and cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting support, financial systems administration, and regulatory reporting.

The Assistant Controller partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to provide timely financial information, maintain strong internal controls, and support business performance. The position serves as a key resource for the accounting department and acts as a backup to critical accounting tasks, ensuring continuity of critical financial and operational processes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Responsible for ensuring that all-governmental reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of all balance sheet accounts by ensuring that account reconciliations are completed monthly/quarterly as scheduled
  • Assist in AR&AP functions. Act as a backup to Credit Supervisor
  • Assist in setting up and supervision of the reporting system, (i.e. receiving, shipping, finished goods inventories, labor distribution and material usage, etc) so that an accurate profit and loss statement can be submitted for each month's business by the established deadlines
  • Assists in the monthly closing by reviewing accounting data for accuracy in order that the closing can be performed on a timely basis
  • Revises performance records, anticipates sales and cost to assist in developing forecasts and budgets
  • Insures proper account distribution for item expenses, inventories, fixed assets, etc.
  • Assist in determining annual cost center absorption rates used to determine product cost
  • Assist in the proper costing all product sold
  • Assist with year-end physical inventory to assure accurate ending inventories balance
  • Responsible for all OneStream activities
  • Manages and resolves accounting department procedures
  • Acts as backup to perform Industrial Controller, Cost Accounting Manager, and Payroll activities
  • Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned

WHAT WE REQUIRE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, product costing, and manufacturing accounting principles.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial reporting platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.


WHAT WE PREFER
  • CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certification.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with OneStream financial reporting and consolidation systems.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP platforms.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience with governmental, regulatory, or statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits.
  • Knowledge of fixed asset accounting and capital project accounting.
  • Experience with inventory controls, physical inventory processes, and cycle count programs.
  • Experience developing cost center allocations, absorption methodologies, and profitability analysis.
  • Background in continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and financial systems implementations.
  • Prior experience serving as a lead accountant, senior accountant, accounting manager, or assistant controller within a manufacturing operation.
