The Assistant Controller, Corporate is responsible for managing and executing key accounting functions including the month-end consolidation process and system, audit support, and technical accounting. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and compliance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and requires proficiency with finance systems.
Estimated starting annual base salary is $136,368.97 - $204,553.45 per year less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. Please note that the actual compensation offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined by the Company, which may include, but is not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, education, skillset, and market conditions. The target base compensation for this role is in the low to middle of the range, with the top of the range reserved for only exceptional circumstances. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, variable annual incentive, paid based on Company performance factors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Consolidate multiple entities and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Drive monthly close schedule and ensure timely consolidation and reporting of results.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and international financial regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits, provide necessary documentation and explanations, and ensure timely completion of audits.
- Liaise and coordinate tax compliance activities with external service providers.
- Research technical accounting issues, as required, and work with the Corporate Controller on documenting issues via formal memos.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Ensure integrity of financial systems (e.g., FCCS, Hyperion, etc.) as the global administrator.
- Manage, analyze, and report corporate cost centers as assigned.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by management.
- Assist with annual insurance renewal process, including data gathering and reporting to brokers.
- Drive and support special projects, as directed.
Required QualificationsEducation & Experience:- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field.
- Certified public accountant (CPA) certification.
- 8 years' relevant professional finance experience in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):- Knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures including solid understanding of US GAAP.
- Strong leadership, organization, presentation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated understanding of business implications of decisions, orientation to profitability, knowledge of market and competition, and alignment of work with strategic goals.
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook. Advanced Excel skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP Systems.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- Public accounting experience in an automated financial environment.
- Experience in a global organization.
