SUMMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. This role plays a key part in managing day-to-day accounting functions, month-end close, and operational and variance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close Process
  • Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
  • Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheet, cost center, income statement, cash flow)
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with IFRS / US GAAP standards

Accounting Operations
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures

Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Support implementation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, IFRS and US GAAP, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with external and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules

Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze operational financial data and work with purchasing and operations to support insights to management
  • Assist with variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and support strategic decision-making

Team Leadership
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
  • Assist in training and development of team members
  • Support a collaborative and high-performance team environment

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and systems
  • Assist with ERP system enhancements and automation initiatives

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Public accounting experience is a plus

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Some knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret information. Ability to write reports and basics business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers and the general public.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must successfully complete Atalco Gramercy's required drug screening and physical examination.
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required prior to offer acceptance; MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) training to be completed upon hire.
