SUMMARY

Karman is currently seeking an individual who shows great leadership skills, critical thinking, and high attention to detail. As the Controller, you will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, and budgeting duties.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Assist Controller with payroll reconciliation and banking transactions as necessary
  • Analyze labor charging, material costs, overhead costs, and variances
  • Support cashflow management and forecasting
  • Evaluate overhead expenses and produce variance reports to identify discrepancies
  • Conduct monthly gross margin analyses and prepare associated reports
  • Support monthly closing activities, including journal entries, variance analyses, project cost revenue accounting (POC), and inventory reporting
  • Optimize and implement ERP/HRIS system processes
  • Foster a positive team culture, continuous improvement, and cross-department communication
  • Monitor, analyze and report on inventory valuation, production and various other costs
  • Generate reports, provide analysis, and draft thorough responses to support audit requests
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to Site Management, Corporate, and other functions
  • Review reporting for trends, investigate abnormalities, and provide recommendations for correction
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products
  • Validate inventory cost reporting
  • Operate in a dynamic environment with competing priorities, while maintaining high level of attention to detail
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and documentation
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field.
  • At least 2-3 years of audit experience is required.
  • Ability to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Being able to identify the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Proficiency with excel and ERP systems
  • ASC 606 POC Revenue Recognition is a plus
  • Ability to read, speak and write in English
