As AirSprint continues to grow, we're looking for an Assistant Controller to support our finance operations and help strengthen financial reporting, controls, and business performance. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
In this role you will:Financial Reporting and Accounting- Oversee core accounting team members and functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes alongside the financial reporting team.
- Review internal financial statements and prepare management reports, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded consistently and accurately.
- Support accounting for aircraft, equipment, capital expenditures, maintenance-related costs, inventory, and other operational assets.
- Assist with year-end working papers and coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, and other professional partners.
- Administration of Microsoft Dynamics and oversight of the corporate credit card program and processes.
- Responsible for government tax filings and remittances.
Leadership & Business Support- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to members of the accounting team.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial analysis.
- Provide leadership coverage for the Controller and Director of Accounting & Finance, as required.
- Monitor operational and financial performance and assist in developing key performance indicators.
- Liaise with and provide guidance to the Maintenance department team to ensure proper recording and tracking of aircraft parts inventory.
- Partner with operational departments to improve profitability, cost control, and efficiency.
- Support credit management activities, including establishing customer credit limits and payment terms, and assisting with collection efforts on outstanding balances in coordination with the Accounts Receivable Administrator.
Systems, Data, and Process Improvement- Improve financial processes, internal controls, reporting tools, and documentation as the company continues to grow.
- Use data analysis to identify trends, exceptions, risks, and opportunities with the support from the senior operational analyst.
- Develop dashboards and management reports that provide timely and useful information to decision-makers.
- Assist with system implementation enhancements, integrations, automation, and data-quality initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will have:- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting professionals.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and accounting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large or complex data sets and communicate the findings clearly.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High degree of integrity, discretion, accountability, and attention to detail.
Bonus points if you have:- Experience in aviation.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or other business-intelligence and data-analysis tools.
- Experience supporting process automation, enterprise resource planning implementations, or finance-system integrations.
