Central Office -Assistant Bureau Chief of ADA & Engineering

This open competitive advertisement is for a Select Exempt position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:
  1. Assists the Deputy Assistant Director in providing oversight for the Bureau of Engineering and ADA oversight. This bureau includes a staff professionally and technically trained in engineering, ADA and/or and construction. This position provides oversight for Regional Engineers, Engineering Specialists, and Central Office Staff. It also, oversees FDC's American s with Disabilities, Act (ADA) compliance, mitigation, and/or the planning and design of construction related to administrative or physical plant needs necessary to ensure compliance with ADA requirements as related to inmates.
  2. Provides managerial direction and supervision of the Engineering Staff providing guidance and supervision as needed.
  3. Perform varied types of activities assisting the division by reviewing and managing aspects related to environmental health and ADA in FDC managed facilities. Provide technical review and consultation for concerns affecting facility engineering and ADA operational demands.
  4. Generate regular reports, actionable insights, and administrative correspondence to support continuous improvement initiatives for Bureau of Engineering and ADA. Analyze, interpret and evaluate needs and recommend solutions for the bureau.
  5. Oversees and ensures statewide compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act program adhering to state and federal laws and regulations governing the ADA, Americans with Disability Guidelines (ADAAG) The Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction (FACBC) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
